Senior Staff Accountant

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our tax and audit staff. Three to five years experience preferred, but will consider candidates with less experience who display the necessary attributes for job success.

General Job Requirements:

  • Prepare complex tax returns (i.e. SCorps, Partnerships, Individual, Trust, Estate and Property Tax returns)
  • Review and analyze basic tax returns
  • Remain up-to-date on tax practices and changes in tax law
  • Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
  • Supervise Audit Associates on engagement teams and function as an in-charge facilitating field work by monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan schedules on each assignment
  • Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise
  • Interact with clients to help ensure the information flow from the client to the audit team is efficient
  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing matters to Managers and Partners
  • Communication with clients to help answer questions or to collect data for tax services or audits

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • 3+ years tax experience with both individual and business returns
  • Must be eligible to sit for CPA exam
  • Have effective communication with clients and staff
  • Experience preparing returns
  • Experience in assisting and/or in-charging audits

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required; all state certifications met
  • Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite knowledge
  • Proficiency with accounting software
  • Experience with general ledger and QuickBooks experience is preferred
  • Experience with completing audit workpapers and documenting audit tests and findings
