Valuing a business is not an exact science. There are probably more books written on this subject than any other in the specialized fields of accounting. A proper valuation requires the application of established methods and criteria. Every business is unique, and as a result, the use of simple "rule-of-thumb" formulas often does not achieve the proper results since they may fail to consider current market values, intangibles and forecasts of future cash flows and profits.
Just being a CPA does not qualify you as a business valuation expert. It takes specific training and experience. Susan Wilson, CPA, ABV, has that training and experience, having been among the first in the country to achieve the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) status awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Having conducted over 50 valuations in the past ten years, she is familiar with the various calculation methods and has the quantitative analysis skills and expertise in taxation issues that will assure you that we will conduct your valuation in the most appropriate manner and in accordance with our professional standards.
